272 pounds. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
Over the last years I've maintained and very slowly grown...in weight. I finally got back in the game at 296. To close to 300. I'm proud that I'm not starting at 333 pounds, but I was feeling it. My job involves walking over 5 miles a day going up 25 flights of stairs and I'm happy to be doing this instead of sitting at a desk all day long.
The radio program Fat2 Fit was good but I'm on the IF plan, now. Intermittent Fasting has been working for me. I'm very time oriented. I'm off on Sunday and Monday so my official weigh in is on Tuesday and I was 272 pounds. I'm on the 16:8, 20:4 and some days only eating 1 meal. It's a hug one, so I like that. No more eating like a bird 6x daily. I don't have to worry about binge eating when I'm not going to the frig.
I turned 50 and my wife is unable to work so I am getting 95% of my food home made! I fell better being down 24 pounds over the last 12 weeks and I've been doing IF for 8-9 weeks. I work 2nd shift and work at a prison so I get up around 9:30 am and go to bed around 1:30 am. I eat around 3:00 - 4:30 each afternoon and I've I am peckish I do have a small bag of mixed nuts for work or when I get home I put a few slices of good quality meat into a roll and munch on something.
When I talk about eating one meal it is HUGE. I love this. I estimate I consume 1200-2000 calories in that meal. Since I have so many food issues I do see this as being a recovering alcoholic. The less time I sit at a bar (or frig) the less chance I have to binge or graze. I eat when I'm happy, sad, bored and for taste. I found a few good statements I have taped in my bathroom right above my scale.
1. Your not a dog, so don't reward yourself with food.
2. You'll thank yourself 3 months from now.
3. Once you control your mind you can conquer your body.
4. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.
I am still at 40 on by BMI scale. Just a few pounds from being considered a class III obese!
I'm working on the 10% weight loss plan. The proverbial "eating an elephant one bite at a time."
296-266 is my first mini goal. Being 10% lighter is the start. I don't mind saying that I tend to slow down and allow myself lots of cheats once I start feeling thinner. It's almost the sick habit of getting thin enough to eat like a pig. I still take 1 statement from the radio show I used to listen to "If you eat like a thin person, you will be thin. If you eat like a fat person, you will be fat. When it comes down to it I'm eating better choices but if I eat less calories then I need I loose weight. I'm not starving and I am happy with a few pounds every week. 2 pounds weekly would be 100 pounds in a year.
My blood pressure is doing well on 10 mg of licetipril, but I don't want other health issues.
I'll check back in but hang tough people. Each day counts! Today is your only day. Just do it.
